Mika

Meet Mika. Take a minute to gaze into those eyes. She is simply stunning. This girl, this perfect, beautiful, red Husky is a rescue dog.  Still think you have to go through a breeder to get just the right full-bred dog?

Look at
her. Even she knows she's legit!

When Mika was a puppy, a woman saw her owner beating her in a parking lot. She asked the man why he was hitting her, and he said he had to because she was so bad. The woman asked if she could have her, and he said "Take her!"  Can you even imagine!?!

That's how Mika ended up in rescue with Operation Education Animal Rescue (Nashville, TN), and that's when Rachel and her family brought her home. They fell in love with the breed and began rescuing and fostering many more, eventually reaching out to other breeds as well. They spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinate on their own dime. Rachel does home visits and has the new owners sign contracts.  She also works with other volunteer organizations as well, donating time, money, food, transportation, anything at all to help.

Mika is the alpha female of Rachel's pack, and don't worry, we will share the whole pack on the blog in the future!  Rachel calls her "perfect."  She is good with kids and cats.  Look how well-behaved she is on a retractable leash with this young man.

She is easy to train and proud to show off her tricks for Rachel's guests. She also likes the snow, but fetch is her very favorite thing!

She is patient when her brother shoves his paws in her face.

She is a cuddlebug.

She seems like the pack leader even when she's totally chill.

Rachel has a beautiful family. Here's a little sneak peak at what you'll get the next time we check in with Rachel's pack.

Rachel is the former foster coordinator for Hogan's Husky Heroes, and volunteers with Alabama Siberian Husky Rescue, but we know she and her family are heroes for opening their hearts and home to Mika and her brothers and foster siblings. Thanks Rachel for sharing Mika's story!

Readers, if you haven't shared your story there's no time like the present!
