HAPPY HOWLOWEEN

EDITED: Sorry but I just had to add: Wiley made it onto Buzzfeed's "33 Pets Who Are Totally Winning Halloween!"   I'm so excited. Click here to check it out: http://www.buzzfeed.com/kaelintully/good-job-mouse-pig-u-rly-won-halloween-vry-cool

Time to share some of your Halloween pictures! I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who goes a little crazy around Halloween. First up we have Mr. Wilson. We've featured his rescue story on the blog before, and his mom Gina is a photographer, so naturally his picture is fabulous.

Next up we have a puppy named Huck.

He is a rescue we will be featuring in the future on the blog.

His mom April went with the shark costume so he could be HUCK FINN. Get it! hahahaha  BOL!

Next up is Lilly the butterfly!

I wanted to make sure we included a cute picture of her face!

How about these three? From left to right we have Mollie, Penny, and Allie.

Penny

Look at Pella all dressed up for the Halloween trick or treaters!

How about we check in we sweet Charlie Jo, decked out in candy corn lights.

She's with her rescue cats, Dora and Jessie.

Dora's a pretty calico girl.

We also have Beaux, who just might be able to fit into his Jack-o-lantern here. Do hotdogs and pumpkins go well together?

Lastly, let's not forget Fanny and Leroy.

Fanny is a typical pittie who can't sit still so it's tough to get a picture that isn't blurry.

Leroy. . . well he's stoic as always.

Sorry, I should have referred to him as His Royal Majesty Leroy.

Happy Howloween to you and yours! Click below if you haven't seen Wiley and Jenny in all their Halloween glory.

Keep your pets safe during this holiday too.

Do you have a rescue pet?  I can share the story here if you contact me.

Hairy Pawter and the Ladybug with Claws

EDITED: Sorry but I just had to add: Wiley made it onto Buzzfeed's "33 Pets Who Are Totally Winning Halloween!"   I'm so excited. Click here to check it out: http://www.buzzfeed.com/kaelintully/good-job-mouse-pig-u-rly-won-halloween-vry-cool

I was going to save Wiley and Jenny and post them on Halloween, but I honestly can't wait anymore. I figured if I post it now it gives people even more time to check them out while they're feeling that good Halloween vibe.

Any readers who know me personally know that I am obsessed with the Harry Potter series of novels. They are my favorite books to read of all time.

I even have a hand-made Harry Potter quilt my mother made for me one Christmas, and in case you care, I was in my 20s at the time. BOL! I don't care; there's no shame in my nerd game. I was very excited when I found this Harry Potter costume at a local discount store.

Although it's intended for humans, I think Wiley wears it like a champ!

Jenny's costume came from a thrift store in Philadelphia.

It's meant to be worn by a small dog, so the head/hood wouldn't fit on her because it was a bit too big.

However, the price was right and I couldn't resist. She hated it and she hated me.

She tried to hide her shame.

It took lots of treats to even get one decent picture.

I also found hair barrettes at a dollar store so I managed to get her in one of them as well.

Now, as you well know, I can never get Wiley and Jenny in a picture together for various reasons. However, while I was trying to get a picture of Wiley to send to Beggin Strips for their #holloween promotion, in which shelters get donations of their treats, Jenny could not resist nosing her way into the picture to see what kind of treat Wiley was getting that she didn't have but definitely wanted.

Can you believe how focused he stays on me and the treat I was holding in my hand?

I seriously never thought I'd see the day he had bacon treats next to him, had the cat rubbing up against him (first time ever), and did not react in the slightest!

None of my friends who know Wiley could believe it until they saw it with their own eyes.

Okay, so there you have it. Share these pictures with everyone who might enjoy them and share your pet pictures with me!

A Tale of Two Peteys

I'm very excited to have a few reader-submitted pictures for the Halloween-themed blog. In fact, two of the dogs we're sharing here are rescues, and they're both named Petey! We need to get their stories for a future blog post of course. For now, meet Petey, who lives with Marisa's family.

Over the years Petey has been quite a good sport about wearing his costumes.

That handsome boy you see with Petey is his human brother Chase.

Our other Petey lives with Sammy and her family.

He is also rocking his pumpkin costume.

If you're having a tough time telling the Peteys apart you're not the only one.  I had to rely on the costumes. Sammy's Petey's pumpkin has a hood. How's that for alliteration?

Remember Amy? We talked about her greyhound lifestyle and how she was inspired and forever changed by Bijou. I wanted to share her Halloween spirit as well.

We are going to have Rush's and Rammy's story on the blog sometime in the next few weeks. Don't be surprised if Amy updates their collars again. These boys just might be a bit spoiled. I have very strong opinions on spoiling our pets. You should read about them here

Spirited Cats

So I've been trying my darnedest to get some good Halloween pics of Jenny. She is such a beautiful cat but boy does she hate to be dressed.

All I did for these pictures was tie a tutu around her middle and I paid for it.   Here she is attempting to bite my ankle.

She also worked vigorously to remove herself from  said tutu.

Oh the indignity of it all!

If only Jenny could be more like Sven and Olaf, who live with my friend Katybeth and her family.

They are two rescue cats whose stories we'll feature in the upcoming weeks.  But for now, let's just acknowledge that Olaf is a bit more accommodating than Jenny when it comes to getting dressed up.

Poor Olaf. He's dressed up like the wrong Disney character for one thing! Although at least the Little Mermaid is close to his Nordic Hans Christian Andersen roots.

Now the question is, who wore it better? Katybeth's daughter Peyton, or Olaf?

I refuse to pick a winner. I just laugh out loud every time I look at this, and that's good enough for me.

Just in case there weren't enough identity issues going on in their house, here's Peyton this year for Halloween, and she's dressed up like a cat!

Hmmmm. Something tells me the people in Katybeth's household like animals or something. . .
