Charlie

Charlie's story begins with him being a Code Red in a shelter. I don't have to tell you what that means.

Well, actually I'm sure his story begins somewhere long before then, but for Amanda and her husband it begins there.

They saw his picture on Facebook, shared by the rescue group Triumphant Tails, Inc.  They went to see him at an adoption event the weekend before his D-Day. Poor Charlie was hiding under the chair of one of the volunteers.

This sweet and timid boy made a move on Amanda's heart right away. It actually sounds a lot like when I met Wiley.

Anyway, she and her husband took Charlie for a walk to get to know him, and made their decision then and there to take him home.

Amanda shares that Charlie is afraid of many things, such as thunderstorms, lawn mowers, and any loud noises.

He's also afraid of plastic bags or when Amanda shakes out the laundry.

He was even afraid of the new furniture, although it didn't stop him from jumping over the couch and onto someone's head!

The good thing is he is not afraid of other dogs, and I cannot wait to tell you about what happened when he met his sister Ginger, but that's for another post!

Charlie is very non-violent, preferring the Civil Disobedience style of passive resistance. haha. Good for you Charlie!

Amanda says he only bared his teeth once, and that was for a very good reason. Good thing he's not aggressive, because he has "super fast growing witch claws!"

He doesn't like food with fish in it, but he does like coffee.

Considering all the pictures of him sleeping I guess Amanda must have him on decaf or something!

There is one other thing Charlie really likes, besides sleeping and his family. He loves digging in fresh-smelling dirt.

Whoa!  Coffee and digging!?! Charlie sure does have a lot of vices! BOL. (Bark out loud!)

Thanks to Amanda for introducing us to her handsome and lovable Charlie.

I'm a sucker for neuroses, as regular readers/fans of Wiley already know. And I can't wait to share Ginger with everyone too! If you can't wait either you should follow them on Instagram @ataleof2canines.

In the meantime, are you keeping a rescue story all to yourself?  If so, why? We need to get the word out. Email me at pabibliophile@gmail.com.

  2. Yaay, Charlie! This sweet dog (and his sibling, Ginger) have the greatest Doggy Parents in the world. Not only have they adopted two death row dogs, but they've helped many others by fostering them for us until their forever homes could be found, too! Spectacular dogs - awesome owners! We love this family :)
