Onyx

This is Onyx. Kathryn wanted to share Onyx after she read Wiley's Rescue Story. Like us, Kathryn and her boyfriend Kevin had very specific criteria when they went looking for a pet.

They went through the Ohio Italian Greyhound Club of America Rescue, looking for a male Italian Greyhound who was young, but not a puppy.

They wanted a pet who was good with other animals because they also have a rabbit. And finally, they were looking for a dog who was already house/crate trained. HAHAHAHA.

Gentle readers, we know all about Dog Destiny don't we? Maybe a better way to describe it would be to call upon the Rolling Stones. . . "You can't  always get what you want. . .but if you try sometimes, well you just might find, you get what you need."

So, despite Kathryn's list of criteria, she wound up with Onyx, a 6 1/2 year old female who is terrified of the bunny and the crate and only potties outside when the temperature is above 75 degrees.  BOL (bark out loud)! And Kathryn and her boyfriend absolutely adore her.

When they brought Onyx home on Memorial Day of this year she was shy. She had been living with a previous owner who loved and spoiled her very much, but unfortunately that owner developed a medical condition that would entail hospitalization and she had to surrender Onyx.

Anyway before too long Onyx warmed up to Kathryn and Kevin, and now she follows them all over the house, just waiting for them to glance at her so she can wag her little butt and give them her great big puppy dog eyes.

Kathryn says Onyx is "spoiled beyond belief and loved more than she knows," but I bet Onyx does know just how much Kathryn and Kevin love her, and I'd also bet that she loves them just as much or more in return.

Thanks so much for sharing Onyx's story, Kathryn!
