Logan

I've been excited to share Logan for awhile now. I shared his sister Mika a few weeks ago. If you didn't read about her yet believe me it's worth your time.  However, I get very excited about sharing Australian Shepherds, because I like to believe they're all Wiley's and Mac's long lost cousins.

When I first saw Logan on Instagram, the blue merle coat and the eyebrows suggested Aussie to me. Turns out I was only partially right. Rachel, Logan's mom, had him DNA tested. He is Australian shepherd, Kelpie, Manchester Terrier, Golden Retriever, Basset Hound, Collie, and Lhasa Apso.  In other words, Logan is a mutt. A stinking cute one at that.

Rachel and her husband rescued Logan when he was 8 weeks old from the shelter in Chattanooga, TN.  She says he is her favorite dog ever and he knows it! He is ridiculously smart and very good at distinguishing words like "ball" from "stick."

He is also a true herding dog, thus he tries to herd everything: children, neighbors, and other dogs. He loves fetch and he especially   loves to swim.

Logan is also very brave, like most herding dogs (Wiley is completely excluded in that category). He helps Rachel train the foster dogs when she brings them in, and he keeps all the dogs in line.

He has his paws full with Dio, who will steal treats or get a little pushy. But he's not scared, as you can see on the right.

Logan likes to be outside and has a great nose for tracking. Rachel thinks he got that from the Basset Hound genes.  She would actually like to train him to be a tracking dog.

Readers, always remember there are dogs like Logan in shelters all over the country. Super smart, loving, disciplined, useful, and cute!  Pass the word along to others, and don't forget to share your rescue story!  It's not too late submit your pets' pictures for the Great Outdoors.  All pets are welcomed, rescue or otherwise. Read more about it here or email me at pabibliophile@gmail.com.

  1. OH look at my perfect little angel baby! Thank you so much for this :-) You did an excellent job of describing Logan. He truly is the perfect dog, all around. I won't tell him about the blog because his head barely fits through the front door as it is. lol
