Happy Thanksgiving!

As people today reflect on all the blessings their lives have to offer, I share one of my biggest with you.

Not only I am thankful that Wiley and I found each other, but I'm also thankful I have the lifestyle and necessities to keep a pet.

I can give him (and Jenny) a safe home, good food, quality veterinary care, and face time with me. Some people leave in the morning and don't get home until 12 hours later. I'm blessed to spend plenty of quality time with my furkids.

I'm blessed to have a husband who didn't bat an eyelid when I told him I wanted to adopt one of the most neurotic and high-needs dogs at the shelter, or when I wanted to add to that insanity by bringing in a stray cat and kittens "just until we can find them homes." And now he loves his foster failure Jenny.

While we're talking about blessings, what a good time to share Katie's little blessing Owen.

Yesterday I was able to visit Owen and his furry brother Rosco, whom we've shared a number of times before on the blog, for example right here.

I may have accidentally taken my turkey hats along, only to find out Owen's Mema had already made him a turkey hat. Two turkeys!

Rosco was so excited to see me, so it was a bit of a challenge to get him to calm down long enough to sit still on the couch with Owen.

Katie had a trick up her sleeve though. Ice cubes!

Rosco really loves them.

But Rosco really loves everyone and everything!

And while we're sharing adorable kids in this turkey hat. . .

I have to share my niece Sadie, who decided to start celebrating Thanksgiving on Halloween this year.

Is it me, or does that turkey hat make everyone cuter?

Hmmm. Must remember to test this theory at Thanksgiving dinner this year.

Happy Thanksgiving from Wiley and me! Enjoy all your blessings, big and small, furry and human.  Email pictures of your pets enjoying the holiday at pabibliophile@gmail.com.

Feel-Good Friday

Wiley and Jenny are still learning to co-exist, and the process is not without its humorous moments for sure. I thought maybe for our Feel-Good Friday post I could share one of her feline moments and Wiley's reaction to it as a lead-in to one of my favorite funny videos that has been making the internet rounds of late.

A few days ago Jenny jumped in the clothes basket while I was in the laundry room.

These types of things, the very things cats do most, e.g. climb on the window sills or chase imaginary things at top speed, are the ones that upset Wiley, because he just doesn't know what to make of them.

You can see his genuine consternation with her, and then the look of concern in his eyes. It's like he's saying, "Ma?  Are you seeing this? Are you going to do anything about this?"

Surprisingly he didn't bark at her, which is one of his go-to moves when she is someplace he thinks she shouldn't be. She kept a very watchful eye on him though.

I guess he thought he'd try a new approach to dealing with her, because he actually "sat up," begging for me to do something. BOL.

God Bless my neurotic and jealous furkid. He's doing the best he can adjusting to Jenny, and better than I ever thought he'd do, but he still has a bit of a ways to go.

Now, let's hope Jenny doesn't start to bully Wiley the way the cats in this video are bullying these dogs. Click on the picture below to watch a very funny two minutes of cats stealing dogs' beds.

Macy's Tea Party

Short and fun post today. We've featured Holly's dogs quite a few times on the blog.

Holly, Davey, Mini, and Gracie are our relocated American now Canadian friends, and Holly famously takes excellent pictures of them, which you can see on Instagram @canadog.

I've featured all these pups individually, and when I featured Mini I talked about her connection to Holly's daughter, Macy.

Now I am pleased to share an adorable video with you, in which Macy introduces all three rescue dogs.

There aren't many cuter things than videos of little girls and little dogs having a tea party together. Click on the picture below to go to this quick video that will definitely make you smile.

Holly does such a great job promoting rescues.

It's obvious she treats her pets like family too.

Like family they may fight over the same resources.

But at the end of the day they all gather as one to bid their humans goodnight.

Thanks to Holly for always sharing such great pictures and now this video too.

Readers, have you shared with us yet?  If not what are you waiting for? Email me at pabibliophile@gmail.com.

Feel-Good Friday: Supercute!

Last Thursday, in addition to Wiley and Jenny's amazing costumes for Halloween, I told you about Wiley being a part of one of my favorite websites, Buzzfeed. I have shared Buzzfeed stories here on the blog, especially on Feel-Good Friday. For example, I strongly recommend you take a few minutes to check out "29 Things That Are Way More Important Than Work Right Now."  You can click the title or click the picture below that comes from that post.

http://www.buzzfeed.com/mattbellassai/things-that-are-way-more-important-than-work-right-now

Anyway, Wiley was accepted for their "Cute or Not" feature, which is an ongoing contest. Every day or so they update whatever 10 pets have the most votes and whatever 10 are the newest. Most animals are around for about a total of 2-3 days, until a new Top Ten arises. Wiley was no exception, EXCEPT HE WAS VOTED NUMBER ONE!!!!

Do you see that Super Cute dog up there!?!  I was one proud Mama. Do you know how it felt to go on one of my absolute favorite and most frequented sites and see my dog in the right sidebar on "The Cute List," like I had seen hundreds of pets over the past few years?

I'm certain that Wiley could turn into a potato overnight, in terms of his appearance, and I would love his sweet neurotic potato face just as much as I do now. I didn't pick him from the shelter because he was cute. In fact in his shelter pics he wasn't even that cute. He picked me, and now our hearts are forever bonded.

But dammmmmnnnnnn he's cute.

In fact he's so cute I feel the need to include this extra cute picture of him I posted on Instagram the other day. This is what I found waiting in bed for me, and believe me there was no room left for me.

But I know I'm a lucky girl, so I'm not complaining. If you're wondering how my husband handles being a part of all my postings, I'll share this text message with you that I sent him the day after I uploaded the above picture:

See?  I like to be honest in all my relationships. It just makes things so much easier.

Thanks to all who voted for Wiley to help make him the Super Cutest for a little while.  If you have something you've been waiting to share, email me at pabibliophile@gmail.com.

Farewell Halloween 2013!

Goodbye to Halloween 2013, one of my favorite Halloweens due to all the great pictures of pets in costumes I've been able to pass along to you.

Now, this post took a very long time to write, because I wanted to make sure I included links to previous stories and Instagram information when needed. Please, if you like what you see here, share this post! You can share it on Facebook or Twitter with a simple click at the bottom of the page where you will see something that looks like this:
Or you can copy and paste the URL onto your page.

Now, without further ado. . .

This is Newt. He crossed the Rainbow Bridge last December. This picture is from a few years ago. He's not a Doberman, and he's not a Doberdog, he's a Dobercat. BOL.

Newt lived with Paige and his brother Sampson.

Now Sampson lives with Isabella (and Paige of course).

You can follow them on Instagram @PMAXSTRONG1.

This is Sonic and Chimmi showing their Halloween Spirit.

They are on Instagram @CHIMMI_LAND.

Next we have Arthur and Wilson.

These black beauties are on Instagram @MARYDIBO2.

Some of our Halloween pet pictures have glowing eyes. My photoshop skills are non-existent with them, so let's pretend they are part of the scaryyyyy effects!  Such is the case with Candy and Coco below.  You can click on their names to read their rescue stories, and you can follow them on Instagram @lovely_syl.

Below is a beautiful dog I've been following ever since I got on Instagram. You can follow her @nani_theredtriaussie.

Thelma's picture is a perfect blend of fall beauty and Halloween cuteness. Sorry, Thelma, you just don't make a scary witch!

 Follow Thelma on Instagram @THELMA_LOU_THE_BLUE_HEELER.

Look at Rufus!  Isn't he spectacular?  We hope to feature his story in the future here on the blog.

He can be followed on Instagram @rufusgrrram.

This is the second Halloween picture we've shared of Nina and her brother Seger. We've had Nina's story on the blog before.

I couldn't resist sharing a few more of their special Halloween costumes.

Nina's mom made her this costume! She says Nina is a Halloween princess.

Here is Seger, showing his Halloween enthusiasm. Follow Seger and Nina @segertheaussie.

The blog has previously shared all of Holly's beautiful pets she's welcomed with a generous heart. This time I just wanted to pass along her artistry:

Brava Holly!

Of course, we need to share a few doggie pics too!

And this picture of Holly's daughter as "Abbey Bominable" and her little abominable "snowmen" is my favorite costume of all I've seen this year!  Perfection!

  Follow Holly @canadog on Instagram.

Rosie is all dressed up with nowhere to go because it rained on Halloween where she lives.

Her brother Buddy looks pretty disappointed too.

You can follow both of these cuties on Instagram @universaljane.

Ohmygosh look at the Minis dressed for Halloween!

We've featured Tica and Vida before on the blog. They are on Instagram @kimpucca14.

Hmmm. . . do you trust Dr. Lyle?

If so you can page him @kml_lmk on Instagram.

Tony may look sweet and innocent but those prisoner stripes suggest otherwise.

Tony lives with Cathleen and the rest of his human family. They are on Instagram @cnalli0517.

If Hubs had known this costume existed I think it's safe to say we would have been spending Halloween with Bark Vader.

Jackson looks pretty intimidating in it doesn't he? BOL. Follow Jackson @jacksontheaussie.

Roxy is another dog I've been following for a while on Instagram @OURMTNDOGS.

She sure looks different as this pretty fairy than she did when I featured her before on the blog.

When it comes to original costumes, it's hard to top Daisy's banana split. BOL. (Hey-that's kind of a pun. . . top her banana split!)

And here Daisy is having a real identity crisis!

Sorry Daisy but I can't stop laughing at the picture above.  You can follow Daisy @gal_vet.

I must include one more Luna picture, even though we had her on earlier in the week. We will feature Luna's full story soon so don't worry.

Follow Luna on Instagram @lunathetoona.

My friend Stacy shared this picture of her new puppy Cocoa, whom we introduced here, posing with a family friend, Colie. As Stacy said, Cocoa is channeling her inner alien here.

And here's Lizzie, enjoying her special Halloween treat.

Madeline sent us this picture of Regan. This is how she greeted the trick or treaters.

Sam shares Axel, who is a very patriotic pup for Halloween.

And lastly, I must include Mr. Wilson in his Halloween costume. He is a combination of some of my favorite things in this picture: a mixed breed dog and a character from the movie Magic Mike. BOL. We have featured Mr. Wilson's household before on the blog, which you can read about here. Don't worry, we will give Mr. Wilson his own feature soon. In the meantime you can follow him on Facebook at Mister Wilson.

Finally, Wiley and Jenny appreciate all the time and attention sent their way this Halloween. If you haven't seen their Halloween pictures yet click on the picture below.

http://getarescuedog.blogspot.com/2013/10/bark-like-egyptian.html

Their page will also tell you how you can vote for Wiley as "Supercute" on Buzzfeed.

Thanks for stopping by. Send me your rescue story at pabibliophile@gmail.com. And don't forget to share this page if you enjoyed it, and pin your favorite pictures to Pinterest!
